Balaraman Vedhanarayanan obtained his M.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University (India). He obtained his Ph.D. degree from AcSIR, CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (India). After acquiring the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) fellowship, he worked as a MOST-Postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, Tunghai University, Taiwan from 2017 to 2021. In 2020, he has been awarded the prestigious ‘JSPS Post-Doctoral Fellowship’ from the ‘Japan Society for the Promotion of Science‘ for his credits. His research is focused on self-assembled functional hybrid materials of carbon allotropes and extended π-systems (oligomers and polymers), organic-inorganic hybrids of 2D materials, and functional molecules/conducting & redox-active polymers for various applications including smart surfaces (superhydrophobic coatings), energy conversion (hydrogen & oxygen evolution reactions and ammonia production), and energy storage devices (hybrid supercapacitors and nonaqueous/aqueous metal-ion & all-organic batteries).
